Tips on Searching

You can run a search for services within certain distances of your postcode.

To ensure an accurate search please ensure that you enter the full postcode whenever possible. You can choose to search within a 1, 3, 5, 10 mile or city wide radius of the postcode.

To check which services are available within this area you can either search one of the Service Types, enter your own ‘Keyword’ or choose one of the words listed in the Quick Search list. (Please note that as each search is separate, multiple searches using one or more of these searches will not work.)

Service Type searches will give you a broad range of services within this type.

A keyword search will search for the word in the description of a service or group. Please ensure search words are spelt correctly as the search does not include a spell check .

Examples of search terms are:
• Lunch
• Social
• Advice
• Craft
• Yoga
• Swimming
• Learning
• Leisure

It is best to use one word to start with (see examples above). This is because the search will locate the word from the heading, description and service type and there are often many variations.

If you put double quotes round a group of words, e.g. “Lunch Club”, it will look for an exact match, otherwise it will look for the individual keywords in any order. You can also do a wildcard search e.g. if your wanted to find a dancing or dance group if you enter danc* this would find both dancing and dance.

A ‘Quick Search’ allows you to search some of the most common types of searches. It will undertake the search for you and then fill in the appropriate phrases in the Keyword box.

To find out more information about the group/services listed please click on the ‘More Details’ button.

When you have completed a search please let us have your feedback by clicking on the question 'Did you find what you were looking for? at the bottom of the search page.

This will enable us to record whether your search was successful and if not, what it was you couldn’t find. The information provided is really important in order for us to see where services are required but do not currently exist.
